What are you involved with on campus?
I am so deeply entrenched in the Newcomb College Institute. I’m a Newcomb Scholar, the president of Newcomb Senate, and I’ll be in this year’s production of Hers, Theirs, Ours.
Â
What’s been your favorite thing about being on Newcomb Senate?
My favorite part of being on Newcomb Senate has to be the opportunity to speak to Newcomb alumnae. They always have such great advice for us, and it is always interesting to learn bits and pieces of Newcomb history from them. That’s not to mention the fact that they let us do fun things like decorate shoes for the Muses parade, which is always a highlight.
Â
What’s been the most rewarding thing about being a Newcomb Scholar?
The Newcomb Scholars program has taught me so much over the past two years. I must say, the most rewarding part of the program has been getting to be a part of an incredible cohort of women. I am always inspired by everything that they do.
Â
What’s one fun fact about Newcomb?
Newcomb was the first degree-granting coordinate college for women in America! We were the inspiration for other coordinate colleges around the country. On a more serious note, the NCI has an espresso machine, which has kept me caffeinated since I stepped on campus freshmen year! Â
What’s your favorite thing about Tulane?
My favorite thing about Tulane is the professors. Not only do they teach my course material, but I’ve been challenged to evaluate the world that I live in and consider all of the ways that I can make a difference!
Â
What are you most excited for this holiday season?
The holidays are my favorite part of the year! I can listen to Christmas music on repeat forever. I also love holiday food. Since my family is Vietnamese, they put me in charge of cooking all of the American food for Thanksgiving and Christmas. My absolute favorite food are holiday sticky buns made with a lot of cinnamon, brown sugar, dried cranberries, and pecans. Â
