Whether your Sharp dorm room is just starting to feel like home, or you’re having major anxiety about graduating in few short months, there are a few things that you really, truly must do before you leave this magical place. So, here it goes, your ultimate Tulane/NOLA bucket list 2k16-2k17:
Spend a day at the Fly with friends
Tailgate and then ACTUALLY go to a game
Tickets are free and who doesn’t want to ROLL WAVE?? Pro tip: Splash Cards are accepted along with all major credit cards at the Yulman concession stands.
Riverboat Cruise
If you didn’t live through the painfully awkward (yet extremely fun) Riverboat Cruise during Welcome Week, then it’s about time that you experience the Mississippi via boat before you graduate. Beware: the Riverboat song will get stuck in your head more easily than the “Ice Cream Truck” one. BYO-Awkwardness.
Attend Voodoo or Buku…or both
I’m partial you Buku, but decide for yourself.
Get overpriced drinks on Bourbon St.
While you may have to endure the “French Quarter Stank,” this is a right of passage for any transplant. That said, hand grenades are over-rated, but Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop is most definitely not –10/10 would recommend.
Spend the night listening to Jazz on Frenchman
Blue Nile and Maison are fan faves.
Go to as many NOLA festivals as possible
Favorites include: Southern Decadence, King Cake Festival, French Quarter Fest, Po-Boy Fest, Seafood Fest…the list could go on forever.
Angola Rodeo
The rodeo held at the Louisiana State Penitentiary. It’s a hike, but definitely an experience to be had. There’s even a camel on sight – need I say more?
Dance on the pool table at F&Ms
Catch a Muse’s shoe at Mardi Gras
St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Take some city tours
Ghost Tour downtown, Cemetery Tour and Swamp Tour to name a few.
Get po-boys from Domilise’s
Eat at one (or all) of the classic NOLA establishments
Commander’s, Antoine’s or Galatoire’s
Get a stuffed sno-ball from Sal’s in Metairie
Hansen’s and Plum Street are good, but Sal’s is the best.
Go to as many TUCP events as possible
This year they’ve already brought us: Kehlani, Daya and Jay Pharaoh.
Drive up to LSU for a football game.
Roll Wave, but also Geaux Tigers.
Visit Avery Island to see where Tabasco is made
Eat as much crawfish at Crawfest as possible
Go to Jazz Fest every year you’re at Tulane
It may be finals season, but Jazz Fest over everythannnggg.
Now get out there and do some cool stuff!!!!!!
