In honor of the premiere of Survivor’s 29th season, I have decided to compile a short list of reasons explaining why this reality show remains superior to all the others.
- When you take away all the frills and luxuries, all people have left is each other. Can you imagine interacting with 17 other strangers on a desert island? I can’t, but watching it happen is pretty great. The whole show is about people forming relationships with strangers, keeping them, backstabbing them, and voting for them.
- What about the characters? This show has seen Americans from every walk of life and it seems like every year the people get even more interesting. Take Phillip…
- The strategy! Playing this game smart is all about your social prowess. Anyone remember “Johnny FairPlay” who lied about his grandma’s death to get a little further in the game? Whether it’s lying, cheating, or stealing, it never fails to be entertaining.
- I can hardly watch an episode without looking at a challenge thinking about how much I’d love to try it. I don’t know if it’s just me, but besides the sleep deprivation and malnutrition (no big deal right?!), I’d love to try one of these beach obstacle courses.
- Finally, it’s A MILLION DOLLARS. Say what you want about love, but dating shows don’t last; Survivor does. Its top prize still reigns supreme. And it’s not a bad pay check for 39 days of work right?!
Tune in to Surivor on Wednesday nights at 7pm Central time.
