I know I am not the only person utterly obsessed with cold cases. Social media has become a tool to bring awareness to cases that otherwise may be forgotten. This is important as It is devastating that there are so many families lacking closure. I find the easiest way to research cold cases is to watch videos on YouTube or to listen to podcasts. In this article, I plan to recommend content creators for others who may be just getting invested.

Bailey Sarian is my favorite YouTuber. She is most known for her Murder, Mystery, and Makeup Mondays.  In this series, Bailey applies her makeup while taking a deep and informative dive into different cases. She is very well prepared and respectful. Bailey’s other content is also highly unproblematic, which is a massive criterion for my support.

Bella Fiori is an Australian YouTuber who also films a series called Mystery Mondays. If you feel like you have heard the same stories repeatedly told Bella may be the person for you. Being Australian, she often researches cases us Canadians have never heard of. Her channel also is not limited to true crime as she films lifestyle and beauty content.

Buzzfeed Unsolved: True Crime is probably something you are already familiar with. This series was my entrance into this interest. These videos are very easy to binge and include hints of humor to help with this research’s emotional burden.

When it comes to podcasts, I tend to search cases rather than shows. That being said, My Favourite Murder is something I know many people listen to. Two comedians host the podcast; this is a little worrisome as humor can often lead to disrespect. However, the hosts never make jokes regarding the victim, so I find the humor in the podcast to be strategic. It is a way to keep listeners engaged and coming back.
