10 Pumpkin Spice Treats You Have To Try This Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

Fall brings cool weather, falling leaves, the start of the school year, and the famous pumpkin spice. As summer starts to wrap up, Dunkin and Starbucks start to advertise their famous pumpkin spice drinks and restaurants add their unique pumpkin twist to their food options. It seems like they take just about any food and add pumpkin and a little bit of spices to create a fall-inspired food. I love the fall and I will try anything that has pumpkin spice in the name. Here are some pumpkin flavored snacks and drinks that you can buy and that I wish were offered all year long.

1. Pumpkin Flavored Ice cream

Pumpkin ice cream is definitely on my list of top five ice cream flavors. After black raspberry and coffee Oreo, pumpkin falls on third on my list. It is great transition from the summer to fall months. But even as the weather gets cooler, it is a perfect ice cream if you find yourself wanting a fall treat. For UConn students, I would recommend getting some at the Dairy Bar. My favorite pumpkin ice cream is Ben and Jerry’s Pumpkin Cheesecake which has a creamy pumpkin taste with graham cracker swirl.

2. Pumpkin Spice Cheerios

This is definitely my favorite type of cheerios. Made with a natural pumpkin spice flavor blended with cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg, it is a perfect morning breakfast for the cool, fall months. You can find the limited edition cereal at any grocery store. Last year, I bought multiple boxes because they are only offered for a few short months.

3. The new Starbucks Pumpkin Spiced Cream Chai Latte

Iced chai is one of my new favorite drinks I discovered while being at college. So when I found out that Starbucks created a fall inspired chai latte, I tried it to see if it was worth the hype — and it was. The iced chai is topped with pumpkin cream cold foam and pumpkin spice topping. I would definitely recommend this drink to anyone, and it is much better than the regular Starbucks iced chai.

4. Dunkin Pumpkin Donuts

If I had a ranking of the Dunkin donuts, the limited edition pumpkin donut would be at the top of my list. It perfectly complements a Dunkin coffee and it is a great morning breakfast or study snack. You could either get pumpkin munchkins or a full sized donut on your next Dunkin run.

5. Frosted Pumpkin Pie Pop Tarts

Although not the healthiest snack, if you are going to indulge in the calories, these pumpkin pie Pop Tarts are worth it. It might not be real pumpkin, but they do a really good job creating an artificial pumpkin taste. Like the Gilmore Girls cast, pop them in the toaster and they are a perfect morning snack as you run out the door.

6. Pumpkin Pie Kit Kats

The typical chocolate covered wafers with a tasty fall twist. Instead of chocolate, the wafers are dipped in a pumpkin pie coating. So when you are buying your Halloween candy this year, try picking up the pumpkin flavored Kit Kats instead of the basic ones.

7. Tate’s Bake Shop Pumpkin Spice Cookies

The classic crisp cookie, but with a pumpkin spice twist. The pumpkin spice balances with the white chocolate chips for a delicious fall cookie. I am not usually a fan of pumpkin flavored cookies because sometimes I think they taste too artificial, but I tried these for the first time this year and they are really good.

8. Pumpkin Spice Hot Cocoa

When you think of hot cocoa, you think about the winter season and the holidays. But what a perfect way to segway from the fall to winter months with fall-inspired hot cocoa! The classic hot chocolate brand, Swiss Miss, has a pumpkin spice flavor that you can try.

9. Pumpkin Spice Belvitas

If you are feeling a more healthy pumpkin option, try the limited edition pumpkin spice Belvitas. These pumpkin breakfast biscuits go perfectly with a cup of tea or coffee.

10. Pumpkin Spice Oatmeal

Oatmeal is the perfect breakfast on a cool fall morning. Quaker has instant pumpkin spice oatmeal packets that just require you to add water. This is a perfect breakfast on the go and can be easily made in a dorm room, too.

Companies promote their products by creating season-inspired flavors, and pumpkin spice is a fall classic. Some of these are not the healthiest snacks and drinks, but if you are going to indulge, try some of these classic treats with a pumpkin spice twist. But if you want a healthier snack, the oatmeal or Belvitas are a great option. These treats are only available for a limited time, so I would go out to the store and get some today!
