Chic Girl of the Week: Leaya George

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

Name: Leaya George
Year: 8th Semester Senior
Major: Allied Health Sciences, Animal Science (Pre-Vet) minor

It was a breezy school day with the sun shining and the birds chirping. Everyone was out and about in their go-to spring clothing. The girls were sporting dresses and shorts, while the guys were in their cargo shorts and sneakers.

Leaya was wearing a flowing floral white & coral one-shoulder top from Forever21 that had a lovely movement in the wind. She paired it with white skinny jeans also from Forever21, which emphasized the top more. She had a silver/amethyst bracelet she bought in Jamaica. Lastly her gold gladiators coordinated perfectly.

She has a sweet personality and assuming that her minor is Animal Science, she is to become a Veterinary Doctor. She will definitely bring her sense of style, which is very simple yet pretty, into her career.

How do you perceive your style?
I guess I don’t really have like a specific style, or like a label for it. I wear whatever I feel like wearing. I tend to have different styles on different days.

What inspires your outfit?
I just like to wear things that are out of the ordinary; sometimes I like to switch things up. I usually wear a lot of leather jackets. But I would pair it up with a pearl necklace to mix it up and make it girly. I also travel a lot so I try to buy pieces from where I’ve been to.

Would you say you are a risk taker with your style?
I guess you could say that, but I don’t wear things that are too crazy. I do like to experiment with my style though. I try to incorporate pieces from all the places I have traveled to around the world.

Is there a style icon you embody in your wardrobe?
Well I like BCBG; they have like a simple style but it is still kind of classic. I try to go for things that are sophisticated.

What is your definition of fashion?
I’d probably have to say that fashion doesn’t have a definition, as long as people are able to express their personality and individuality through it. Fashion is meant to be an outlet to outwardly show others who you are without saying anything.
