As we all know, freshmen are a species all their own. Some truly are stereotypical freshman and others are actually cool. But whether we like them or not, Storrs is swamped with tons of fresh faces every fall. Here’s how we cope with freshmen at UConn.
You head to first day of classes excited to be back at the one place you love more than anything. Unfortunately, you’re met with an unpleasant surprise – freshmen!
1. When they first appear and your world is shook:
2. When they try to talk to you on Fairfield way:
3. When they go ham in Towers D hall and only leave you scraps of everything:
4. When they walk around the Union like a lost puppy:
5. When you see them at parties and there’s only one thing that could make your night bearable:
6. When one of them asks you if our basketball team is good:
7. When they rep UConn head to toe, lanyard included, and you start to empathize with them because, just like you, they clearly love UConn:
Once you agree to be a resource to them, you find out that they’re just as annoying as you thought…
8. When they’re filled with holiday cheer in December because they don’t have have real finals yet:
9. When they blow up your phone asking dumb questions, like, “Where are the parties at tn???”
10. When the kids in the class you TA for fall for you:
11. When you start to warm up to their bright eyes and loyal personality:
12. When you have conflicting feelings about taking them under your wing:
You go full-on parent mode and decide to be a true mentor…Â
13. When they express remorse for spending all of their parents’ money on DP Dough and alcohol, so you let them know it’s okay:
14. When they need to be coddled after failing their first college exam:
15. When they study for finals with you and don’t get how you do it:
16. When they question your methods of “help” and start questioning why they’re doing your laundry:
…And as much as you think you’ve become accustomed to the whole dealing with freshman thing, you still need a break from them from time to time…
17. When they say they need to go home for a weekend:
