How to look the part at your first Zumba class

How to…

Look the part at your first Zumba class!

Zumba has become a nation wide phenomenon in the past decade. This fun yet vigorous form of exercise is the new way to get that ideal beach body. Although Zumba is beginner friendly, like everything else there are certain norms that go along with attending a Zumba fitness class that everyone should know.

Being someone who had never taken a dance class, I quickly picked up on some key easy ways to blend in when your dance moves don’t exactly stand out.

First things first, you must dress the part. Zumba is fun and upbeat, so bring out those bright colors! The entire hour will consist of quick and sharp movements so yoga pants or leggings are optimal; there is no time for big baggy sweatpants to get in the way!

Next, enter the room with confidence! Look like you take the class every week. Go to a specific spot on the floor; don’t wander around looking for somewhere less visible.

The last important piece of “looking the part” is to smile. Showing those pearly whites proves you know what you’re doing and more importantly, you’re loving it! The Zumba instructors are extremely good at maintaining a smile throughout the class, so vibe off of their excitement for the dance and then others will feed off your energy in return!
