How to Stay Productive Over Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

We’re home for break and can finally relax a little. But here we go again, every winter break, we tell ourselves that it will be a productive one, but after finals, Christmas, and New Years, there isn’t that much time left. By then, we realize that we have been putting off those internship and job applications, our class schedules, and more. Here’s a few little things you can do to remain productive over winter break:

1) Create daily to-do lists

I am the biggest fan of creating lists. It helps remind me what things I need to do and by writing it down, I don’t have to worry that I will forget something. Create lists for yourself each day to help you plan out your day around your tasks.

2) Update your LinkedIn, resume, and cover letter

With a busy past semester, you probably didn’t have time to update your LinkedIn and resume, so before you go on your Netflix binge, take a few moments to update your LinkedIn and resume to reflect some of the clubs you were a part in the past semester and some new experiences you’ve had.

3) Set a few hours each week for applications

This can be every morning or 2 hours in the afternoon where you set some time to fill out some applications for jobs or internships. By setting yourself a routine, it’ll hold you more accountable and make sure you are being productive. For job and internship postings, check out Her Campus’ own Job and Internship Board, LinkedIn, and Indeed.

4) Set up a workout routine

Take some time to relax and to focus on yourself. Whether it be signing yourself up for a yoga class, hitting the gym, going for a run, or doing some at home workouts, set some time every so often for a nice workout to release some endorphins for a happier you!

5) Finalize your spring 2017 schedule

To prevent the chaos and stress when the new semester starts, think about the class you enrolled in for the next semester and finalize your schedule.

6) Snuggle up and read a good book

Cheers to a great winter break!
