Jon Favreau recently announced that a live action remake of The Lion King was in the works, most likely following in the technologically groundbreaking, realistic reimagining of Favreau’s latest directing success, The Jungle Book. If this wasn’t exciting enough, the cast is already freaking amazing.Â
Donald Glover (yes, Childish Gambino) has been cast as Simba! Glover’s acting career is currently on a roll, with his Golden Globe winning show Atlanta (which he created, writes, and stars in) and the news that he will be playing a young Lando Calrissian in an untitled Han Solo movie skyrocketing him to the top of everyone’s “to watch” list.
And if it couldn’t get any better, James Earl Jones, THE James Earl Jones, is set to reprise his role as Mufasa! (I mean, really, how could they have chosen anyone else?)
Now excuse us while we wait “patiently” for the casting of Timon and Pumba…Â
