Nikki Iadanza ’12

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

Meet this week’s Campus Celebrity, Nikki Iadanza, a multi-talented senior with a heart of gold and an aspiration in interior design!

Name: Nikki Iadanza
Year: Senior
Major: Communications
Hometown: Stamford, CT

What influenced you to join a sorority?
When I was in high school I was a cheerleader and I ran track. I was used to being on a team with strong, motivated women who were determined to push each other to my highest potential. When I came to UConn, I felt that going through Panhellenic recruitment would give me similar opportunities in college. I wanted to be surrounded by women with similar aspirations and interests, so I went Greek.

Do you consider yourself a leader?
Yes, I do. I have held many leadership positions in my time here at UConn. I am the Facility Management Director for Kappa Alpha Theta. I was the Music Chairperson for Theta, the President of Junior Panhellenic and the Vice President of Chapter Operations for Delta Sigma Pi. I have also assisted on many committees in the last four years.

What was your favorite class you took at UConn?
My favorite class that I have taken at UConn was Interpersonal Communication with Theresa MacNeil. This was one of the most enriching experiences in my life. I would look forward to this class all week because it was so entertaining and enlightening. I learned a lot about my friends, family and most importantly, myself. I am still very close with Theresa and many of my peers from this class.

What is the best money you ever spent?
I bought a sea foam green, sequined Valentino top from TJ Maxx, on sale, for $12. I checked the original price tag from Bergdorf’s and it retailed for almost $600! It had a few rips in it, but I was able to sew them right up and it looks fierce.

What career path will you choose after you graduate?
I’m really torn between marketing, human resources, and interior design. I plan on dabbling a little bit into all three of these fields over the next couple of years and hopefully, I will find a dream job in one of them. Regardless, I plan on ending up in New York City!

What is one thing you will miss most about UConn?
I think the thing I am going to miss most about UConn is the college atmosphere. We live in a very unique environment. We are surrounded by thousands of students that are around our age at all times. We have so much freedom to do what we want, whenever we want, and the transition from this surreal life to the real world is going to be interesting.

Caitlin is a Communication major with minors in Sociology and Women's Studies at the University of Connecticut. She has always loved to write, but she caught the advertising bug at UConn and now dreams of creating ads that people will always remember. When she's not studying mass media or reading advertising blogs, Caitlin loves making collages, riding horses, and surprising people!
