As the holiday season quickly approaches and the air turns chilly, it’s the perfect time to plop on your couch with popcorn, hot cocoa, and a warm blanket to binge watch your favorite television shows to get you in the mood for the season. Christmas movies are starting to make a reappearance, but before we get to that, here are a few of the best Thanksgiving sitcom episodes to get you in the mood for Thanksgiving break!
- Friends Season 5, Episode 8: “The One With All The Thanksgivings”
-
The first sitcom centered around Thanksgiving shenanigans that comes to everyone’s mind is Friends. Sure enough, the first episode I recommend should make an appearance on your television is this famous episode. Filled with hilarious Thanksgiving memories and a lost toe, this episode is sure to get you in the Thanksgiving spirit.
- That 70’s Show Season 1, Episode 9: “Thanksgiving”
-
Another show that’s certain to get you in the holiday spirit is That 70’s Show. In this episode, Laurie’s friend from college comes to Thanksgiving dinner and creates tension between Eric and Donna’s relationship. Not only will you be certain to laugh but you will also work up an appetite watching Kitty’s cooking.
- New Girl Season 1, Episode 6: “Thanksgiving”
-
New Girl has several Thanksgiving episodes that should be on your must-see list, but this one is my favorite as it encompasses all of the craziness we’d expect from New Girl. A turkey in the dryer, a potential lover for Jess, and a dead body all make an apperance, and it is one of the first holidays the gang spends together making it extra special.
- Gilmore Girls Season 3, Episode 9: A Deep-Fried Korean Thanksgiving
-
Rory and Loreli are nothing without their food, and in this episode they eat not one, but four Thanksgiving dinners. The New England holiday vibes make Gilmore Girls one of my favorite fall shows, and this episode in particular does not dissapoint.
- Full House Season 1, Episode 9: “The Miracle of Thanksgiving”
-
It’s the girls’ first Thanksgiving without their mother, and Jesse, Joey, and Danny are determined to make it perfect. No one knows how to cook a Thanksgiving meal, so the day doesn’t quite end as planned. This episode is hilarious and wholesome; the perfect combination for a Thanksgiving themed episode.
- Modern Family Season 6, Episode 8: “Three Turkeys”
-
In this episode, Phil and Luke decide to cook the Thanksgiving meal. Claire, however, has no faith in them and decides to cook another turkey as backup. Meanwhile, Jay and Gloria had trip plans cancelled last minute and decide to cook their own Thanksgiving feast at their home in secret. Of course, when Thanksgiving gets moved last minute to their house, things start to get interesting. This episode is nothing less than hilarious, and will hopefully help you realize that your family isn’t the only disfunctional one on the block.
- Friends Season 3 Episode 9: “The One With The Football”
-
If your Thanksgiving is centered around a meal and football, this is the perfect episode for you. Old sibling rivalries are sparked when the gang decides to play touch football in the park. Not only will this get you excited for Thanksgiving but it will also hopefully help you realize that your relationship with your siblings isn’t as competitive as you think, at least not compared to Ross and Monica.
- New Girl Season 4 Episode 9: ”Thanksgiving IV”
-
The gang decides to celebrate “Bangs-giving” (Schmidts idea, of course), and what could go wrong? In this hilarious but wholesome episode, Winston gets over his fear and sparks a romance with a lunch lady, Coach falls for a woman who is strikingly stronger than him, Jess finally hooks up with Ryan despite being his boss, Schmidt and Cece have a moment, and Nick gets Tran’s granddaughters’ number. A lot to process, but the episode is sure to get you in the holiday mood.
