You open the invitation, finally a chance to dress up and an opportunity to meet some cute friends of the groom!

But then you stop and think, what do I wear? You’re not a bridesmaid, you’re definitely too old to pull off the poufy dress and ruffled socks. Length varies by venue. Before you hit the that boutique down town, do some research! Make sure you know where the wedding will be so you have an idea of the type of wedding and whether it will be formal, semi-formal, or casual. The more formal the longer the dress tends to be, and visa versa. High-low dresses are the perfect in-between or when the venue is not a clear indicator of the type of wedding it will be.

Make your outfit with the perfect pump! Dancing tends to be everyone’s favorite part about the wedding. If you can’t participate in the cha cha slide then your heels have failed you. Some women think they cannot have a gorgeous heel and still be comfortable walking or dancing. This is a fallacy, you can absolute find the perfect pump that is comfortable and fabulous. If you find that those heels may not make it through a night of dancing, bring a pair of ballet flats in your clutch and slip them on before the dancing begins! You can’t not get those perfect pumps so show them off and then let them rest while you take those flats to the dance floor! 

Always bring extra mascara, a mini sewing kit and a snack to the wedding. The clutch is vital to wedding survival! Things may get emotional so you want to make sure you can reapply that mascara! Dancing is fun but things happen and who knows your dress may accidentally rip during the Macarena. You never know what will be at cocktail hour or what kind of appetizers the bride and groom will serve so bring a granola bar to hold you over because a cranky guest can take away from the day! Keep all the necessities in mind when picking out the perfect bag! Don’t forget those ballet flats!
