Mostly everyone in college is over-stressed and over-tired trying to write two papers while nursing a hangover after a night at Grille 86, and Netflix is one of the best ways to cope. Six hours of binge watching The Office, or re-watching Bridget Jones’ Diary for the hundredth time can make you forget about the mess that is the life of a college student. This list will give some things to watch for every mood that strikes.
If you’re feeling nostalgic…Watch High School Musical (and High School Musical 2 if you’ve got the time).
This movie, for so many, was the beginning of a lasting and slightly unhealthy obsession with Zac Efron that has only grown stronger much like his washboard abs. Whether you realize it or not, the lyrics will come flooding back immediately and the urge to belt them out will be hard to ignore. It’s cheesy. It’s overacted. It’s so bad, that it’s good.
Want to get into the Halloween spirit? Choose The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Along with Hocus Pocus, it’s a time-honored tradition to watch this at least once every October, and Netflix made it that much easier to make that happen. If you don’t find yourself singing along to “This is Halloween” while watching the oddly creepy Pumpkin King Jack Skellington sometime in the next few weeks, then you’re doing fall all wrong.
For a wine night with your roomies, go with Made of Honor.
For all my Grey’s Anatomy fans, this is a must-see. It doesn’t get much better than McDreamy and Owen battling it out for the girl of their dreams. For those with no idea what I’m referring to, any movie that stars Patrick Dempsey as the leading man is the right choice. 90 minutes of screen time with the one and only Dr. Shepherd is time well-spent.
If you’re trying to binge watch a show, but don’t have time for a long commitment, start Riverdale.
There’s only one season on Netflix, so you can easily spend a Saturday watching from start to finish. It’s suspenseful and overly dramatic, but in a good way that will fill that void you’ve been missing since the good old days when Pretty Little Liars was still on air. The second season started on CW this week, so it’s the perfect time to get caught up.
Up for a good cry? Try Charlie St. Cloud
Yes, another Zac Efron flick has made the list and no, that is not too many. It’s just as sappy and romantic as a Nicholas Sparks novel and even those of you claiming you never cry will shed a tear or two. Grab some tissues and some waterproof mascara and bring on the waterworks over these two brothers ripped apart.
Put down those flashcards, skip today’s trip to the gym and order in some take out because you have a lot of movies to get through tonight.
