Slept through your alarm, pulled an all nighter, or hair game just not strong? We’ve all been there, and most of us are feeling that more than ever as break comes to a close. The new year is here along with the opportunity to have a little more fun with your hairstyle. Having little time to get ready can put a damper on your morning routine, but here are some hair tricks to look fresh and put together even when you’re not. These easy hair how-to’s are perfect whether you’re having a lazy day or you’re a girl on-the-go.
1. The not-so-messy bun
The best part about this is that a little texturizing spray and a ponytail holder are all you need to look on-point in a few minutes. You can even add some statement earrings to help your classy yet-simple bun stand out. Even your 8:00 am class has never bun better.
2. Baby braid pony
The simplest way to add something to your otherwise basic ponytail or next-day hair is with a few tiny braids. You can place a few braids on one or both sides for a pretty and understated look.
3. The top notch top knot
Classic, elegant and always easy to do. It works as a go-to for almost any occaison and is also a great option on days when you’re running out of dry shampoo and motivation.
4. Mermaid braid
Probably the cutest way to dress up a full side braid! It holds everything in place while still looking beautiful. On days you suffer from bedhead, or you couldn’t find your straightener in time, this side braid is effortlessly stunning.
5. Half-up bun
This works for the mornings when the top of your hair feels a little flat but the rest of your hair is full of volume. On those times when you can’t decide whether to leave your hair down or put it in a bun , it’s a win-win.
6. Behind the head braid
Definition of hair goals right here, this updo will have others stopping for a second look. If you’ve got a few extra minutes in the morning, this bold hairstyle can pull any look you’re going for together.
7. Half up braids
So elegant-looking and subtle, everything about it says “I got this.” Whether you’re headed on a date or a job interview, this well put-together style is just lovely!
8. Braid crown
This syle is convienient for those times when you can’t find a headband. Or when your hair has too much volume going on. The placement of this slim braid looks sophisticated and keeps full-bodied hair at the crown.
9. The always chic side braid
For a statement braid that looks super chic, update your high pony with a slick braid pulled through the end of the ponytail. A few drops of Argan oil or a little conditioner left at the ends of your hair will keep it shiny and healthy-looking.
10. Headband
You can’t go wrong with a cute updo, or your natural hairstyle featuring your favorite colorful headband. Bonus points if you can find one with your school’s team colors, too!
11. Braided bangs
Whether you’re growing your bangs out or don’t have time to straighten them, they can get in the way of things sometimes. A few small side braids in multiple strands with a little gel or hairspray will keep your hair in place for the whole day.
12. Messy ponytail
Nothing like a tasteful high ponytail. Try twisting a few pieces of hair around the base of the hair band for added drama. We all know Serena Van Der Woodsen does it best!

15. Bows
If you’re in need of a little volume, a half-up half-down style is a great way to go. Ribbons and bows are a charming addition to a half-up hairstyle and you might even be able to use the satin ribbons right off of your Christmas presents!
16. Bobby Pins
On days when you’re out of hair ideas, bobby pins can be your BFF. Use them in small arrow patterns, triangles or a few next to each other for a pop of color.
