Everyone always makes a huge deal about their love for October and all of it’s flannel-wearing, pumpkin spice-drinking glamour (I love it, too, honestly). But then as soon as it’s over, everyone goes into straight Christmas mode. Don’t get me wrong: I love Christmas. But I think we are overlooking one of the best months of the year. Here are eight reasons why November is an underrated month..
1. Football, football, football, and more football
Yes, October and December have football too, but November is the primetime of the season. It is the second half of the college season and often where the pressures begin to rise and the upsets take a toll on top rated teams. And if you don’t particularly take an interest in the game itself, who doesn’t like watching cute boys run around in football pants. Just saying.
2. No Shave November
No one likes to shave, so what’s not to love about the idea that you don’t have to grab that dreaded razor for a whole month if you don’t want to. Plus, it’s a really awesome way to bring about cancer awareness!
3. Elections
Everyone loves actively using their right to vote and trying to make America better! Elections are held on the Tuesday after the first Monday of November.
4. I love to blog, you love to blog, we all love to blog.
November is National Blog Posting Month! LOVE! I think this one speaks for itself…
5. It’s the calm before the storm when it comes to school.
It’s that time of year: midterms are through, and finals aren’t until December. We get to relax a bit and take a break from all those papers and tests to recharge for the next go around.. finals! Take advantage of this time along with the weeklong break for Thanksgiving. Don’t forget it’s still important to keep caught up and involved in your classes.
6. Pumpkin pie, cherry pie, apple pie, pecan pie…
I could go on and on if you really wanted me to. Let’s not lie: pie is a food that is mostly associated with November, and it’s absolutely delicious. You are never too full to pass up a piece of pie, trust me!
7. Black Friday Shopping
Shopping is one of the best past times there is in general. Combine that with super great deals and twelve hour splurges? Count me in! Black Friday is a fun time to find awesome deals and load up on Christmas gifts needed for all of the people in your life. You could also work off your Thanksgiving calories…bonus!
8. Last but most definitely not least: THANKSGIVING
Thanksgiving is all about eating, football and family time. Does it get any better than that?! I’d vote no. There’s nothing like spending quality time with your family, stuffing your face, and reflecting on everything in life that you’re thankful for. There are no gift-giving or date-finding pressures. Just a great time with the people you love and delicious food. Oh, and don’t forget the numerous food comas!
November is such an underrated month! Let’s embrace all it has to offer and enjoy every second of it.
