The Britney Spears’ defamation trial has ended. And hopefully for Britney’s sake, bringing up her troubled past will come to an end too. (Remember when Britney shaved her head in 2007? How could anyone forget.)
Sam Lufti, Britney’s self-proclaimed former manager, was trying to sue Lynne Spears, Britney’s mother, for libel and the singer’s father, Jamie, for allegedly hitting him at the singer’s home. The case was finally dismissed, however, due to weak evidence.
Spears’ parents attended the trial to support their daughter and both testified to prove that the allegations against them were not true. Britney Spears on the other hand kept quiet throughout the trial, and focused on her X Factor gig.
Lufti claimed that he was owed 15% of the singer’s earnings- he was asking for 15 percent of the $800,000 Spears earned each month of the eight months he served as her “manager”, totaling to around $960,000. Spears will not end up having to pay those charges, but she will have to pay for the 8 lawyers who defended her throughout the trial.
Lufti also made claims that Britney shaved her head to avoid a drug test and that things went south for her after her relationship with Justin Timberlake ended. He claimed that Britney’s mother lied about him drugging the singer, and that he was the one trying to keep Britney off the drugs. On the reverse, he was feeling the heat about his close relationship with the paparazzi during the time of Britney’s meltdown, and claimed that the reason he was, was to make sure she was treated with respect.
All of the negative attention surrounding the singer, and having all of her past mistakes brought into the light again hasn’t been easy on Britney, but she has held her head high on the X Factor and hasn’t showed any signs of slowing down. Now that the trial is done, Britney can finally put her past back in the past where it belongs.
