ColourPop cosmetics are the newest must-haves. Luckily for the average college student’s budget, the products range from $5-8. I, like many other makeup fanatics, discovered ColourPop through Youtube makeup artists raving about their products. ColourPop is most commonly known for their super shock shadows. They are now getting a lot of publicity for their lippie stix and liquid lipsticks. I have personally purchased and tested all three. ColourPop certainly lives up to the hype.
Super Shock Shadows
These unique eyeshadows are sold in individual pots due to their unique formula. When applied the shadows have a creamy texture, but are in fact a powder formula. This may be tricky to apply the first few times, but the pigmentation, color variety and price are certainly worth the difficult application. Another plus about these ultra pigmented shadows is that they can all double as eyeliners. I actually prefer using Roulette to gel liners. The application and all day wear are better than any gel liner I have ever tried.
Application tips and tricks: Use a flat or sponge brush to apply the shadow. Start with a thin layer then build up the color until you have your desired look. Often times it is easiest to just use your fingers to apply this shadow. Remember to completely seal the lid when finished to prevent the formula from drying out.
Lippie Stix
I got the lippie stix mini variety pack. I was very impressed to find at the other end of the lippie there was a matching lip liner. I purchased only matte colors, and I am very pleased with the consistency as well as the pigmentation.
Application tips and tricks: Line your lips with the lip liner first to give yourself a guideline of where to apply the lippie stick. Apply two coats for the most even color.
Liquid lipsticks
These liquid lipsticks pack a powerful pigmentation and long wear formula. I would compare these to the stay all day line from Stila cosmetics. The only difference is the price tag. Stila runs around $24 each, whereas ColourPop is only $6 a piece.
Application tips and tricks: Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Nothing looks worse than a drying matte liquid lipstick on dry cracked lips. If you are wearing a darker color, I recommend lining your lips. No matter what color you are wearing, you should always clean up the edges with a concealer.
ColourPop knocked it out of the park with all three lines. You can’t find designer quality products like these for a better price. Get your hands on some while they are still in stock.
