Single on V-day? No Problem

It’s that time of the year again….Valentine’s Day.  While some of us are waiting in anticipation to spend this day with our significant others, the rest of us are quietly pondering what we will be doing on this dreadful day.  One thing is for sure, don’t sit at home and pout! Make plans on the day of love, whether it’s with yourself or with some friends. Staying in and feeling sorry for yourself isn’t going to make Valentine’s Day any better, so check out the ideas below to make this single Valentine’s Day the best one yet.

1. Go out!

Lucky for you, Valentine’s Day is on a Friday this year which only means one thing in Iowa City…parties, parties, and more parties. Several bars are sure to have a classic stop light party where you can green up your outfit to let all of those single guys out there know that you are single and ready to mingle as well. Grab a couple of your girlfriends and have fun with a night like this. Your green outfit will be sure to attract the attention of others, so you can easily score some numbers and compliments.

2. Girls night in!

Grab all of your single friends and have a night in at one your places.  Pick up a few things at the store to give at home pedis and manies and make sure to grab loads of chocolate, popcorn, and chick flicks starring your favorite man crushes.  It’ll be hard to feel sorry for yourself when you’re surrounded by girl friends having a good time.

3. Treat yourself to something special

Feeling a little down on the day of love? Then love yourself instead! We all deserve to spoil ourselves every now and then and today is the perfect day to do so. Go to the mall and treat yourself to that cute top you’ve been wanting, or get your hair and nails done.  Whatever you do, don’t feel bad! Everyone needs a day to themselves and today’s the perfect day to do so. 

4. Hang out with a guy friends 

If you truly can’t stand being alone on Valentine’s Day, then hit up one of your guy friends. They’re the perfect person to take along to all of those Valentine’s Day parties if you don’t want to be hit on. Plus, they don’t get into all the hype like girls do. Guys won’t feel bad if teddy bears, roses, and chocolate aren’t involved on this day. All they want is a good time with friends. Whether it be watching a movie, going out to dinner, or just staying in and playing video games your guy friend will be sure to take the edge off of this day.
