As someone who considers themself both a nerd and a candle lover, when I saw a TikTok about a candle from Target that supposedly smelled like Kylo Ren from the Star Wars sequels, I just about lost my mind. And so did a lot of other people. That candle circluating the app was sold out at almost every Target I went to.
A short while later, the character candle hype dwindled down on TikTok, but as Harry Potter content started to surge, another candle emerged from the depths of people’s nerdy brains. Soon, everyone was obsessed with the candle called Mahogany Apple from Bath & Body Works because it was associated with Draco Malfoy. With experience from the first round of candle fangirling, I knew there was no way I could get my paws on it. Being the person I am, I did a bit of research and came across hundreds of etsy stores and other websites that create candles with a certain character in mind! Candles that allegedly smell like my favorite movie, TV show, book, and anime characters (and places!) were at the tips of my fingers, and now they are at the tips of yours.

If another TikTok about candles that smell like fictional people starts to inevitably circle the internet once again, I know that I will be able to get one. Even if it isn’t the same fifteen-dollar Bath & Body Works one that is being raved about, I still have the opportunity to own a candle that someone put a lot of time and effort into, supports a small business, and (of course) smells like my favorite character!
