This Week’s Gossip Roundup
While your busy slaving away to your professor’s demands, celebrities are out living their glamorous (and sometimes not so glamorous) lives. Stay in the loop with all the Hollywood happenings from around the web this week on Her Campus University of Iowa! (And, although I do not condone it, reading celebrity gossip is probably one of the greatest procrastination tools EVER).
1. TLC cancels “Kate Plus 8.” As if we didn’t see this one coming! After poor ratings, the show comes to an end September 12. http://bit.ly/oNeWEF I bet Jon is happy about this one!
2. Taylor Swift suffers a minor wardrobe malfunction at a concert in St. Louis last Saturday. While belting out words to “You Belong With Me” a fan blows her skirt up, exposing her, um, granny panties. Hey, they are comfy! See the video here: http://bit.ly/pfLcP1
3. Lizzie McGuire is pregnant! Well, she is technically Hilary Duff, but we all watched Lizzie, Miranda, and Gordo navigate their way through Junior High and High School, and fact that the girl who played Lizzie is now old enough to be having babies is just a tad bit scary. But of course we wish all the best to Hilary (who is 23), her husband and hockey star Mike Comrie, and their growing family! http://bit.ly/qW8dEM
4. As another Kardashian is getting ready to get hitched, People Magazine is shelling out the big bucks to get the first photos of Kim’s nuptials to basketball player Kris Humphries. If you are anything like me, you wonder what exactly she is good at that made her famous, but nonetheless a celebrity wedding is always over the top and fun. Plus, you can’t help but wonder what kind of dress designer Vera Wang designed for her. But for all the Kim K. fans, People has you covered after dishing out $500,000 for the photos. Imagine that, someone paying YOU that much money for a picture of yourself. That’ll be the day. http://bit.ly/oLkoBg
5. Kat von D and Jesse James are back on! The tatted-up couple broke off their engagement not even a month ago, and now, according to their twitter accounts, are happily engaged again. Kat tweeted a photo of the two embracing, and Jesse followed up with a “kissy” pic of the duo with the caption, “Para Siempre” meaning “forever” in Spanish. This is great news for Kat, who recently got a tattoo (yes, a permanent one) of Jesse as a young child…close call, Kat.
6. Ahh, Adam Levine, gotta love him! The Maroon 5 front man and The Voice judge recently discussed in an issue of Out Magazine how supportive his family was of his gay brother, and then went on to slam the Fox show American Idol, for not allowing contestants to be openly gay. “What’s always pissing me off about Idol is wanting to mask that, for that to go unspoken,” he says. “C’mon, you can’t be publicly gay?” I smell competition from The Voice and American Idol! http://eonli.ne/qZCH0N
7. In more serious news, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Russell Armstrong, estranged husband of star Taylor Armstrong, was found dead in a bedroom at a friend’s home from apparent suicide last Monday night. He was a 47-year-old businessman, who’s falling out from wife Taylor was shown on theReal Housewives show last season. He leaves behind a 5-year-old daughter, Kennedy. Read about his recent troubles here: http://bit.ly/qv9ipn Bravo has decided to edit the upcoming season of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in respect, and a source close to the Bravo network says that the premier of the show is delayed indefinitely.
8. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard about the tragic stage collapse at the Indiana State Fair last weekend that killed five fans waiting for Sugarland to perform and injured dozens of others. Now we are hearing that Sugarland’s tour manager, Hellen Rollens, got the all clear for the band to go on, but decided to keep the duo, made up of Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush, waiting until the sky cleared up. This decision probably saved the lives of the band, and others on the stage crew. http://yhoo.it/pNxaiK If you haven’t seen the video of the stage collapsing, view it here, but warning, it is hard to watch. In their first performance since the fair in Albuquerque, New Mexico Thursday night, the band held a moment of silence to honor the victims.
