On September 8, 2011 the after-hours shopping extravaganza Fashion Night Out celebrated its third magnificent year. This exceptional event began two years ago and was created by Anna Wintour from Vogue Magazine, CFDA, NY & Co and of course the city of New York. It was created as a way to boost the retail economy and reinstate consumer confidence during the recession.
This year, the city of Boston shut down Newbury Street for the first time in honor of FNO. The famous fashion street was filled with beautiful people and spectacular performances. Festivities ranged from cocktails to a photo booth session at Diane von Furstenberg and giveaways at Marc Jacobs. The Liberty Hotel also hosted a runway show for people to enjoy while dancing to music and sipping on their favorite cocktail or glass of wine.
FNO Boston revealed fun treats in unexpected places, such as the local favorite Stephanie’s on Newbury, who passed out Grey Goose specialty cocktails to diners. I personally considered the Marc by Marc Jacobs store to be the biggest hotspot for FNO in Boston. The retailer transformed the store with a carnival theme of clowns and colorful balloons. Customers would rush in the store to snag free tote bags and snack on gummy bears as they explored the fabulous new collection.
FNO Boston is an exciting event full of fashion and beauty and I highly recommend everyone to experience it! Coming in a few days is an interview with one of the ladies that heads up FNO Boston- stay tuned!
