Spring Finals Tips and Motivation

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Maine chapter.

With warmer weather here and Maine Day coming up, who wants to focus on finals? Not me! For those of us who need a little inspiration, here are some helpful tips for staying focused for finals.

Start the studying now.

Finals may not be tomorrow, but they’ll be here before you know it. “The secret to getting ahead is getting started.” Studying now will eliminate the stress later on. Small increments of studying instead of cramming have been proven to aid in success when it comes to retaining information.

Take breaks.

Don’t plan to sit down and study all at one time. Go outside, enjoy the fresh air and grab your favorite drink. Take your friends up to the Fam Dog patio for an hour of much needed conversation and some vitamin D.

Practice self-care.

Go get a mani or pedi or even take some time to just relax and watch a favorite show. If you’re one to listen to music when studying or writing papers, make a favorite playlist or put on an old one for some enjoyment.

Change your study spaces.

You can only study in the library for so long, right? Sit outside or if you’re a morning person, take your work up to Nest and enjoy a yummy breakfast!

The thought of studying can be dreadful, but in the end, it’s worth it. You are so close to those summer days, hang on and stay motivated for just a little longer. Think about how nice it will feel to see that GPA you’re working towards, don’t stop now!
