With Thanksgiving right around the corner, the first thought on any fashionista’s mind right now is BLACK FRIDAY! As your trusted guide to everything fashionable and Maine, Her Campus UMaine wants to give you the low-down on what deals to grab, and what steals to avoid, on America’s favorite day to shop.
First, if it is not on a special sale or you’re paying practically full price for it- put it back on the shelf and step away. There are so many deal’s going on during the holiday season that stores are practically giving their merchandise away. If it is not on sale or you do not have a coupon wait until after Black Friday and check back for the special’s running in December.
Too tired from Turkey day to make it to the mall? Sit back in your recliner, plug in your computer and shop online for the day. Most stores will offer similar, if not the same, sales on their websites. If your impatient like me but NEED to have that epic New Years Eve dress from Express then skip the lines and get it virtually! I worked in the Maine Mall for the past four Black Friday’s and I don’t know how many times my fellow employees and myself wished more people took advantage of the online shopping.
Just because it is FREE doesn’t mean you can’t give it as a gift. Bath and Body Works, Express, Victories Secret, etc. commonly give away bags of goodies or special items as Black Friday Bonuses. Use these small items to bulk up gifts for your friends and family. In today’s economy free is as good as it gets and everyone says it’s the thought that matters in gift giving anyway.
