What You’ll Need to Survive a UMaine Winter

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Maine chapter.

As much as we don’t want to admit it, November is here and fall is slowly coming to an end. Soon the days will become colder and shorter, and winter will take over. Since Maine winters can be pretty cold and wet, we have a few staples to get you through the chilly winter months!

1. Knitted Wool Mittens

I have at least three pairs of these and they are all amazing! You can get them in an so many colors and patterns. These mittens are insanely warm and perfect for shoveling off your car after a nasty Maine storm.

2. A Cute Hat

Hats are crucial for a winter at UMaine. They keep your ears toasty warm and are great for hiding your bad hair days when you have an early morning lecture! You lose a majority of your heat through your head so bundle it up!

3. Fleece Lined Leggings

Leggings are awesome, but fleece lined leggings will change your life. They are cozy and warm, everything you want in a winter outfit!

4. A Puffy Jacket

This is my saving grace during the chilly winter in Orono. They keep you from freezing your butt off when walking around campus.

5. L.L. Bean Boots

These are a staple for every Mainer and will safe you on those wet cold mornings walking to class. Even better, they go with everything.  Even the unlined boots keep your feet warm! They’re basically indestructible so do yourself a huge favor and make the investment! (Plus Bean Boots are so instagram worthy)

Stay safe this winter collegiettes! We can get through this together.
