Over winter break I had the amazing opportunity to visit friends in Florence who are studying abroad this spring. Over the week that I was there, my friends and I spent a lot of our time exploring the city and all it had to offer. We, of course, checked out the many different Piazzas, spent our time admiring the Duomo, and taking pictures on the Ponte Vecchio. Most importantly, we made sure to find the best spots to eat authentic Italian food and of course the best places to find the foods we love at home. I am constantly looking for a good brunch spot in every new place I visit, and Florence, Italy certainly did not let me down.

Le Vespe Cafe

Le Vespe is tucked in the corner of a street close to the Duomo and offers a cozy vibe to grab a healthy breakfast. Their menu features great options for vegetarians and vegans. During my time in Florence, I found myself missing smoothies and juices, but Le Vespe had a large selection to choose from. During my week in Florence my diet mainly consisted of all the pasta, pizza, and bread I could eat, so it was great to grab a healthy breakfast there.

Rooster Cafe

If you are looking for a place to grab an American style brunch, the Rooster Cafe is the perfect spot. On their menu, you can find breakfast sandwiches, avocado toast, pancakes, and so much more. All of their ingredients are locally sourced which ensures quality and freshness for every item on their menu. One of the standouts on their menu are the banana pancakes perfectly named “Jack Johnson.” All of the staff are extremely friendly and make your visit feel very welcoming.

Melaleuca Bakery and Bistrot

Melaleuca is an Australian bakery and bistro located right along the river. All their baked goods and breads are made fresh in the kitchen. The coffee is a must try with their beans being roasted nearby and served in cute ceramic cups. I highly recommend their eggs benny plus it is served on house-made sourdough. The Aussie desserts and bakery items are almost impossible not to try after your meal if you have room!

Shake Café

If you find yourself in a time crunch and needing something to quickly grab and go, Shake Cafe has some great options. Their menu has a large selection of smoothie bowls, wraps, coffee, and juices. Shake Café has a few locations in Florence, Italy making it easy to find wherever you are in Florence. On the front counter, there are many different breads, muffins, and other pastries to also take on the go.
