As a singing sensation, Taylor Swift has released hundreds of songs. Recently, she even is releasing her re-recordings, titled “Taylor’s Version,” since she does not have ownership of her past albums because of Scooter Braun. Although it’s hard to pick a few of my favorite songs she’s released, here’s a curated list of some of my all-time favorites…in no particular order.
Album: Taylor Swift
“Picture to Burn:” This song is a total comeback to a guy who hurt her…and it’s amazing. Hearing her younger voice makes me so reminiscent.
“Our Song:” If this doesn’t encapsulate Taylor Swift in 2006, I don’t know what does. This song is so fun and her country accent makes it so adorable.
Album: Fearless (Taylor’s Version)
“The Way I Loved You (Taylor’s Version):” I could scream this song forever, and if you listen to this, so will you. It’s about a breakup and wanting that person back.
“The Best Day (Taylor’s Version):” This song makes me want to cry every time I listen to it — in the best way possible. It’s a tribute to Taylor’s mom and the hardships of growing up, but always having her by her side.
“The Other Side of the Door (Taylor’s Version):” I feel like this song is often overlooked but I consider it a hidden gem in this album!
Album: Speak Now
“Mean:” This cute song about not caring about people who are mean is a perfect representation of growing up. Taylor said #stopbullying.
“Dear John:” A classic…this one is from her relationship with John Mayer and the difficulties that followed.
Album: Red (Taylor’s Version)
“All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version):” If you haven’t heard this song by now, you’re just missing out. As one of her most popular songs, this one hits right in the feels and tells the story of a difficult breakup.
“Begin Again (Taylor’s Version):” I think this song is so cute and underrated. I highly recommend giving it a listen.
“The Lucky One (Taylor’s Version):” This song tells a story about the truths about being in the spotlight, and how difficult it really can be.
“The Very First Night (Taylor’s Version):” Ever since this was released last year, I haven’t stopped listening. It’s an upbeat, fun song, that’s guaranteed to boost your mood!
“Babe (Taylor’s Version):” A highly overlooked song: it’s so easy to get stuck in your head because it’s that good.
Album: 1989
“Clean:” She has dedicated this song on her live tour to the day when she was finally believed by the judge during her sexual assault case. This song has so much meaning and is so important to Taylor herself.
“Style:” Another one of her more popular songs, but nonetheless, so good.
“Out of the Woods:” One of my all-time favorites; “Out of the Woods” tells an amazing story about a couple going through difficult times and whether or not they are out of them.
“You Are In Love:” Seeing her perform this live is one of my life goals. The audience sings it back to her during this sweet song about when you realize you are falling in love.
“New Romantics:” This pop song is so fun to dance to and raises my mood the second I start listening to it.
Album: Reputation
“Getaway Car:” I cannot describe how much I love this song; I’ll just let it speak for itself. I truly think this is one of Taylor’s best songs ever.
“I Did Something Bad:” Taylor makes revenge sound so good in this song.
“Don’t Blame Me:” In this religious-sounding song, Taylor demonstrates her ability as a music artist to conquer any and every genre.
“Delicate:” I may have listened to this song about seven hundred times. It is a calm, but meaningful song and the music video makes it even more enjoyable. Maybe Taylor should also commit to a dance career?
“This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things:” Taylor Swift in her Reputation-era is unbeatable. She demonstrated how unapologetic and confident she really is, and it shows in this song.
“Call It What You Want:” I cannot express how much I love this song; it’s about your lover and when you stop caring about what other people think about you because you know they are the one for you.
Album: Lover
“Cruel Summer:” I could scream this in my car forever. This song is so fun and perfect for late-night summer drives with your friends (or just yourself!)
“The Man:” As a feminist, Taylor demonstrates the inequalities in her field by explaining what it would be like if she was a man. The music video is amazing and I highly recommend watching it as well for an unbelievable surprise.
“Death By A Thousand Cuts:” About saying goodbye and how hard this can be. The bridge might be my favorite part, but the lyrics in this entire song mean so much to me. One of her best-written songs, in my opinion.
“London Boy:” I think we all know who this is about… (*Joe Alwyn*); this song is so fun and spunky!
Album: folklore
“the 1:” I cannot speak enough about this almost-love song about an almost-lover and what it would have been like if it was meant to be.
“the last great American dynasty:” The way Taylor Swift is able to tell a story through her lyrics is insane. This song gives you a full novel within a few minutes, and it’s so captivating.
“seven:” This slow-paced song has so much meaning behind it, and if you like alternative folk music I recommend this.
“august:” Listening to this song on the beach will make you feel so connected to Taylor about just how much time flies.
“invisible string:” A love song about always being connected to your soulmate, even without knowing. This song is so sweet and simple but has so much meaning behind it.
Album: evermore
“dorothea:” This song has such a peaceful vibe to it and I could listen to it for hours.
“long story short:” This song talks about growing up and realizing the important things in life. It really hits home.
“marjorie:” This song is about her late grandmother and it makes me so emotional every time I listen to it. Between the lyrics and music, Taylor describes exactly what it feels like to lose a grandparent too early.
“right where you left me:” As a bonus track, this song gets me right in the feels about growing up and moving on from some relationships.
I hope you enjoy these songs as much as I do!!
