No S.O to Spend Valentine’s Day With? Not a Problem

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

Valentine’s Day is that day of the year when campus is filled with lovey-dovey couples and your Instagram feed is filled with pics of them. It can be lonely if you don’t have someone to share it with, but let’s change the idea behind the holiday and focus on the people who DO love you! (a.k.a your girlfriends)! My friends and I are getting in our comfiest clothes, watching a romcom, and hitting the dining hall to get the ingredients needed to make this super easy face mask.

Ingredients

  • Scoop of Oatmeal

  • Scoop of Greek yogurt

  • 1 spoonful of Cinnamon

  • 2 spoonfuls of Brown sugar

  • 1 squirt of Honey

Now the question is : Why should you even put this on your face?

  1. The oats in oatmeal, along with the brown sugar act as a light exfoliant. This means if you have sensitive skin, it won’t cause irritation.

  2. The lactic acid in Greek yogurt helps to dissolve dead skin cells, along with moisturizing your skin and fighting acne.

  3. Cinnamon’s antibacterial properties help to fight acne, while also making this face mask smell amazing.

  4. Honey helps to moisturize the skin, reduce the appearance of scars, and fight the redness and swelling of acne.

Add all the ingredients into a bowl and stir. Once combined, bring it back to your dorm and place it in the fridge until ready to use. Apply a thin layer to your skin and leave on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with warm water, and your skin is left feeling moisturized and glowing! Feel free to use this face mask as many times as you’d like.

So remember, instead of spending your Valentine’s Day being sad over the people you don’t have, let’s be happy that we have friends and family that care and love us, and focus on self love this Valentine’s day.
