The women of the Rho Kappa Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. celebrated the 19th anniversary of their charter day with an end of the year banquet held in the Malcolm X Cultural Center at UMass on April 30th, 2014.
They celebrated and honored their first Sarah M. Nutter Award winner, Maija Ross-Hall and congratulated one of their sisters, Vice President of Rho Kappa, Nia Decaille for making it into the 4.0 GPA club!
As the first sorority founded by African American women in the country, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is a sorority founded to promote high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, to study and help alleviate problems girls and young women face in order to uplift their social stature, maintain a progressive interest in college life and to be of service to all man kind.
Cheers to 19 years of service, scholarship and sisterhood!Â
