Let me just say it here, I’m not a huge Taylor Swift fan-girl. However, I do enjoy listening to some of her songs, and she has quite a few good ones for different moods. Whether you’re sad, heartbroken, in love, or happy … she has the song for it all!
For When You’re Falling In Love
I personally love listening to “Daylight,” “Lover”, “All Of The Girls You Loved Before,” “Enchanted,” “When Emma Falls In Love,” “Mine,” and “You Belong With Me” when I’m thinking of my boyfriend. I feel like these songs are each their own unique feeling of love. For example, “You Belong With Me” reminds me of yearning love and wanting to be with someone, almost like having a crush. “Lover,” however, feels like finding that right person to do everything with and having reciprocated love. These songs are so romantic and relatable for a “lover girl.” Every time I listen to them, it feels like I’m walking on a cloud of lovey-dovey feelings.
For When You’re Out With Friends
I definitely think a lot of Taylor’s most popular songs work really well for hanging out with friends! Especially since they are more well-known and they’re easier to sing along to. Some of those songs would be “Style,” “Wildest Dreams,” “Cruel Summer,” “Shake It Off,” “Love Story” (the frats at UMass love this song), and “Welcome To New York.” They’re super catchy, and easy to remember so you don’t miss out on singing your heart out with your friends. These songs are also the type to bring the karaoke performance out of you. I feel like it brings everyone together, and it just feels comfortable to sing along to them. Also, a mention to my friend Heli, she loves the song “Style” — every chance she gets she’ll sing that song with her whole heart! So “Style” will probably never go out of style, thanks to her.
For When You’re Heartbroken and Sad
Although Taylor Swift’s songs can have that pop element with her catchy lyrics and beats, I think she can really hit you in the feels with a good heartbreak song. Some of my favorites are “All Too Well,” “champagne problems,” “Last Kiss,” “Back To December,” “august,” and “cardigan.” I feel like Taylor just gets it when it comes to the ugly side of love, and how sometimes you get hurt really badly. Her voice and lyrics greatly portray the betrayal, sadness, and heartbreak from falling in love and being left alone afterwards. I also think some parts of her lyrics can be relatable for a wide range of people, and I think that’s why her sadder songs hit different than her other regular songs.
For When You Want To Dance And Party
It’s crazy to me that Taylor Swift started as a country singer. Her shift from that to pop music is a big difference. I think she does really well in both genres and they both have their own perks, but I honestly think her doing pop music was her best decision because it’s so fun and lively. Some songs I like to dance to are “New Romantics,” “…Ready For It?,” “22,” “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” “Picture To Burn,” and “Bad Blood.” These are such good hype songs that get your body moving!
At this point, I listen to Taylor Swift so much and know so many of her songs I might as well call myself a “Swiftie.” I really love her songs and it is really fun to reminisce with her songs whenever I’m in a certain mood. She’s definitely a talented artist, and I can’t wait to hear more from her.
