Looking back on when I was a little kid, I remember how I would always make homemade cards that I would give to my parents for holidays and birthdays. I remember often making these homemade cards out of construction paper and drawing something on the front of the card, and then writing something on the inside of the card. I remember how in elementary school, whenever there was a holiday coming up such as Christmas or Mother’s Day, we would often make homemade cards or a gift of some sort to give to our parents. While I think a lot of kids stop making homemade cards as they get older, I continue to make homemade cards for my loved ones for holidays and birthdays. I found joy in making a homemade card and getting to give it to someone I loved.

One aspect I really love about making a homemade card is that you get to write the message in the card. I think this makes a homemade card really special because you are not just giving someone a card that has a prewritten message in it already. You get to come up with what you want to write in the card, which makes the card unique and really special to the person you are giving it to. I think writing the message in a homemade card also makes you really think about what you appreciate about the person you are giving it to and is a great opportunity for you to express to that person how much you appreciate them.

Another aspect I love about making a homemade card is that you get to be creative with the front of the card and decide how you want it to look. If you enjoy drawing, you can draw something on the front of the card or make a little design on the front of the card. I believe that you do not need to be much of an artist to still be able to make a nice design or drawing. If you have a hard time coming up with ideas for what you want to draw on your homemade card, you can also always look on Pinterest if you need some inspiration. The beauty of creating the image on the front of the card that the card is truly going to be one of a kind. Even if it does not look perfect in your eyes, I can guarantee that whoever you are giving it to will really appreciate it.

I also think that it is really enjoyable to make cards. Making cards is a way for me to express my creativity and often makes me feel more inspired. When I am making a card, I get to take time to be in the present moment and just be creative. If you are someone who wants to spend more time being creative, making cards may be a great option for you. I find that making a card is also a very calming process. When you are making a card, you get to slow down and take a break from anything that may be creating stress in your life.

Making cards over the years has taught me that you will never regret taking the time to make a card for someone you love. You are never going to regret expressing to your loved ones how much you appreciate them. Even when you are tired and staying up late the night before a holiday finishing up a card, the next day you will be so glad that you get to give your loved one a completely original card. And there definitely are times when life gets really busy and you have to get a store-bought card, and that is completely okay! I personally have some store bought cards that are super meaningful to me because the person who gave them to me wrote their own message in it to me. Overall, I think that making homemade cards is a really great way to show your loved ones how much you love them while getting to express your creativity.
