The last few weeks before spring break can be a busy time for college students; they often consist of multiple midterms and homework assignments, which makes spring break very much needed. Whether you are going home for spring break or traveling somewhere, it is a great time to relax and have a nice break from the college environment. Here are some great ways to truly relax over break:

Spend Time Outside

One thing I am super excited about for this upcoming spring break is that it looks like we are going to have nice, warm weather during this spring break. If the weather is warm enough, spending time outside is a great way to relax and enjoy the spring weather. I personally find going on walks to be really relaxing, whether it is in parks, on hiking trails, or around my neighborhood. Doing an activity such as reading or coloring in an adult coloring book outside can be a great way to unwind while enjoying the nice weather.

Get Physical Activity

Physical activity is a great way to relax because it helps you release endorphins and is a natural mood booster. If everything got very busy before break and you have not gotten to workout in a while, spring break can be a great way to reset and get yourself in a routine that includes daily physical activity. Getting physical activity can mean many different things, whether it is lifting weights, going on a walk or run, doing pilates, or playing a sport.

Go Somewhere You Don’t Get To Go To while At School

If you are a college student who lives on campus and doesn’t have a car, there are probably some places you don’t get to go to as much while at school. If you are going home for spring break, use this week to visit some of the places that you don’t get to go to as much while at school. This could mean going shopping at your favorite stores or local mall, getting coffee from your favorite local coffee shops, or just visiting your favorite places near home.

Spend less time on your Computer

As college students, we spend a lot of time on our computers when studying and doing homework. During spring break, I personally like to spend less time on my computer and not look at anything school-related. If possible, I highly recommend not looking at Canvas, Google Calendar, or any to-do lists related to school. While these are great tools to have, I think it is important to have breaks from them as well.

Get sleep

This may seem obvious, but spring break is a great time to catch up on sleep if you have been feeling a little sleep deprived. If you can, I highly recommend waking up without an alarm during some of the days of your spring break. Getting enough sleep is so important for relaxation because it reduces stress levels, improves your mood, and enhances cognitive function.

Spend Time With Family and Friends

Spending time with family and friends is a great way to help you feel more relaxed and refreshed during spring break. Since you likely have not seen your family in a little while, it can be really nice to go home and just spend time with your family. Seeing some of your friends from home can be a really fun thing to do during spring break, especially if you are an out of state student.

Overall, these are some of the ways that I will be relaxing over this upcoming spring break. It is so important to take time for yourself and take a proper break from the hustle and bustle that can come with being in college. Remember that you deserve to have a break and take time to simply just relax!
