It’s that time of year when classes and life start to become stressful, but we all need an occasional break. Personally, my favorite way to relax is by turning on a good show—I might even say it’s self care. We all need that one hour every day to take a break from the chaos that is life and just relax! I like to think of myself as a Netflix expert, so here are five fabulous shows that you cannot miss this fall (and have come out recently or are trending)!

1) Killing eve Screenshot 2024 09 13 at 11.17.25%E2%80%AFAM

I just recently finished this show, but let me tell you, it is one of the best shows I’ve ever watched. A psychological + offbeat thriller, but not necessarily scary—intense in the way that it leaves you on the edge of your seat after every episode! I cannot lie to you guys, this show is dangerous if you have plans for the next two weeks because it is SO addicting. Without spoiling it, it’s about two women, a detective that chases an assassin, and they both develop so much and (kind of?) become friends throughout the series. I don’t want to ruin the show, so just take a look at the first episode for yourself!

2) Shameless Screenshot 2024 09 13 at 11.20.49%E2%80%AFAM

Now, Shameless came out in 2011, but I just recently watched it after seeing a billion clips on TikTok and it’s unlike any other show I’ve watched before. It’s about a family that grows up in the less fortunate side of Chicago with lunatics for parents, and these kids cannot catch a break. This one is a longer series (about nine seasons) but it’ll keep you entertained for a while! It’s a great comedy but also has some heartwarming moments and is the perfect show to take your mind off of what’s happening in your life and laugh at what’s happening in the life of the Gallaghers.

3) Grace and Frankie Screenshot 2024 09 13 at 11.26.40%E2%80%AFAM

Grace and Frankie is a newer series and it does NOT disappoint. It’s a comedy series definitely aimed at our parents’ generation, but it had me laughing out loud at every episode (and that doesn’t happen often). Since it’s definitely on the longer side (seven seasons), this show will also last you a couple of months, but it’s perfect if you don’t have a lot of time to watch because the episodes are only 30 minutes. It’s about two retired women who are going through a midlife crisis for what seems like years! Anyways, this show is great if you just need a laugh and want to relax!

4) Suits Screenshot 2024 09 13 at 11.23.59%E2%80%AFAM

Suits was trending a little while ago, in 2021, but I just got the chance to watch it recently. The only way I can describe it to you is Legally Blonde x Full House – I know it makes NO sense, but trust me on this one. It’s about a Harvard Law graduate who represents the most eccentric people— it’ll have you hooked. It definitely requires a little bit more focus than the other shows I’ve listed for you, but if you can stop whatever you’re doing for an hour to watch an episode, you won’t regret it!

5) Gilmore girls Screenshot 2024 09 13 at 11.24.51%E2%80%AFAM

Girls, I KNOW you’ve heard of this series and most of you have probably binged it at least five times already, but what kind of fall show list would this be if I didn’t sneak this series on here! It’s such an oldie but a goodie, and the hype does not lie—it quickly becomes such an essential comfort show! A perfect fall series, but also great to turn on in the background of whatever you might be doing. I normally count the days until September 1st hits and I can watch it again, but unfortunately, we’re experiencing July weather in the middle of September, so I can’t watch quite yet! Nevertheless, add it to the top of your list to watch for this fall (if you haven’t started already)!
