If you’re like me, chances are you’re already dreading the end of the semester. A little because of finals, but mostly because the end of the semester means not seeing your college friends over the summer. While these friendships will continue over FaceTime calls and potential visits, it’s normal to want to make the most of the remaining time in your semester. Here are five things I’m looking forward to doing with my friends before the semester ends. While some of these are tried and true Michigan traditions, some of these are also my own that you can do too!
1. Get Joe’s at 2 AM.
There’s nothing like a good slice of pizza at 2:00 in the morning, plus the people you’ll meet while waiting in line will have some of the most interesting conversations with you that you’re sure to remember for a lifetime.
2. Paint the rock!
Join generations of Wolverines in painting the rock and see how long you can keep yours up before someone else paints over it!
3. Take a walk through the arb.
With Spring finally here (at least according to Michigan standards), take advantage of the moments of nice weather, and walk through the arb as a way to de-stress before finals and ground yourself through nature.
4. Spin the cube!
Speaking of finals, if you need a study break, spin the cube for good luck on your finals! You may not need it, but a little extra luck never hurt anybody.
5. Get take-out from your favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor and eat it somewhere outside.
I can personally attest that No Thai! tastes better in the Law Quad, boba from Quickly hits different in the Diag, and milkshakes from Ray’s just taste so much better when you drink them outside on a chilly night.
Honorable Mentions:
Apart from the aforementioned, some other things you could do are watch a movie at the State St. Theater, sit in a hammock in the Diag, or try out the massage chairs in the Union. Regardless of whatever you choose to do, though, look for joy in the rest of the semester. Approaching the end of the semester can be stressful, but it is also a good time to reflect on how far you’ve come, as well as how you want to spend the rest of the term. Regardless of what you choose to do, I hope you enjoy it!
