9 Reasons to Not Feel Bad About Coming Back for the OSU Game

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mich chapter.

The Michigan versus Ohio State football rivalry is recognized as one of the best, and most vicious, college football rivalries of all time. So why would you miss such a great game? Here’s nine reasons to not feel bad about cutting Thanksgiving short to come back for the biggest game of the season.

1. Winter break is in another few weeks

You’ll see your friends and family so soon, and for much longer, so calm down, Mom.

2.  Your best friend is abroad anyway.

So there’s no point.

3. Michigan footbaugh is killing it.

Harbaugh has brought our team back from the dead and this year we actually have a shot at… I don’t want to jinx it.

4. Post-Thanksgiving break finals

Because everyone has papers/projects/tests the week after break for some reason, so this way you can use Sunday productively.

5. Nagging relatives

You can only take so much of “So why don’t you have a boyfriend?” and “What are you planning to do next summer?” and “Where are you going with your life?” before going insane.

6. You miss your college friends

You and your roommates are co-dependent and it’s been a whole three days apart – that is quite simply too long.

7. You’re going to get fat

If you stay home and let your mom continue to stuff your face with her delicious leftovers, you’re going to get fat. And then your mom will complain that you are getting fat. And then you’ll be sad that you got fat. It’s a vicious cycle and you’ve got to get out of there.

8. Tailgates

You can’t miss the last chance at a Michigan tailgate before you’re a sophomore/junior/senior/graduate/day older/in finals season/day paler/inch taller/inch shorter/or anything else.

9.  IT’S THE BIGGEST COLLEGE RIVALRY.

If your family doesn’t understand that you need to support your school in the biggest game of the year, they’re simply not your real family.
