With Valentine’s Day coming up, many students are scrambling to make reservations with their significant other or friend group (shoutout Galentine’s Day). Others are apprehensively checking their bank account and realizing splurging on Valentine’s Day for a boujee night out might not be a responsible move. If you’re in the second category, like myself, this article has got you covered. Be prepared to spend your heart day eating your feelings out at assorted Michigan Dining Halls — a girl’s dream.
Brunch:
Start your day out right with East Quad’s omelet bar. Throw in some spinach and mushrooms to give those eggs a healthy spin and finish off with Frank’s hot sauce. Don’t forget to grab a plate full of hash browns and cinnamon French toast, making sure to add whipped cream and crushed strawberries to the French toast. To ensure you’re awake for this big day, grab some coffee on the way out, just remember to return your mug later (or don’t, they charge you for stolen silverware anyways).
Dinner:
Before a night out, try South Quad’s delicious stir fry. The line may be long, but it’s certainly worth it. You could splurge for a Qdoba (not Chipotle, Chipotle is gross) inspired burrito bowl while you’re there too. Grab a table near the back right windows for a stunning view of the Big House — how romantic!
Dessert:
Finish off your night with whatever the nearest dining hall is serving for dessert, they’re all equally delicious and calorie packed. It’s Valentine’s Day though, so calories don’t count — treat yoself. Mojo’s cookies are always a classic, but if you’re in for a “healthier” alternative, try dipping strawberries in the newly added Nutella. Disclaimer: Nutella not available for students at Bursley Hall, sorry.
After a long day full of romantic meals thanks to Michigan Dining Halls, you deserve to spend some dough, so buy yourself a box of chocolates or flowers. Maybe even that frighteningly large teddy bear you’ve seen in the Walgreens window. Either way, congratulate yourself on surviving another Valentine’s Day, this time with more cash in your pocket than last year.
