Patricia Rubio, one of my roommates and members of the U of M Club Fencing Team, sat down and talked with me about her experience at Michigan so far:
HC: When did you start fencing and how did you get into it?
I started fencing my freshman year of college, and I decided to do it because it seemed like an interesting sport and wanted to try it out.
HC: What made you decide to continue?
I wanted to be part of a team, and I love how close everyone on the team is. I enjoy being on the team because it’s like being part of a huge, wonderful, ridiculous family.
HC: What is your favorite part of being on the team?
I love how close everyone is and there’s always something to do. We are a pretty close-knit group.
HC: What do you study at Michigan?
I study Neuroscience in L,S&A .
HC: Where are you from and what do you miss most about home?
I am from Puerto Rico and I really miss the food and the beaches!
HC: Favorite memory from Michigan so far?
My favorite memories come from bonding with my team and watching random movies with them. I also loved meeting my friends.
