As the semester starts back up, it can feel like you are drowning in stress. To manage it, you shouldn’t forget to Treat Yo’ Self to some self-care! So, grab some friends for some strictly non-school talk and bonding, or take some time independent of anyone and just vibe with yourself for a little. Here are some suggestions to inspire your self-care routine.

  1. Face masks

I love face masks so much. Your skin is one of the first places stress starts to show and the winter weather is only going to dry it out even more. There are so many different options from charcoal masks, to gold skin relief masks. My favorite type of mask is the (Blank) animal masks from Ulta. You can also find them on Amazon and at Target.

  1. Pore strips

I love and hate these at the same time because it feels so disgusting yet satisfying to pull these off. If you allow your pores to stay clogged up, they’re going to keep irritating your skin. When my friend and I had our self-care day, it was hilarious to look at each other with these on. I recommend Biore pore strips.

  1. Brunch

Sometimes you need to have a nice non-dining hall meal; my friend and I love brunch. We went to Savas and got smoothies and yummy breakfast food. Even if you’re on a budget, you can get some delicious eggs and hash browns for $6 at a beautiful restaurant.

  1. Nails

I know this is so stereotypical but painting your nails while gossiping about some b**** in your section is so stress relieving. Plus, in a week when you’re up at 1 am finishing up that paper due at 8 and you catch sight of those cute nails, hopefully it will remind you of happy times.

  1. Exercising…or not

For some, exercising reduces stress and makes you feel good. If so, schedule it into your care routine. If you’re always exercising, take a break and rest. It’s all about gaging what your body needs to relax.

  1. Chocolate

Dark chocolate is beneficial in its abilities to help decrease stress, so it should always be part of any self-care routine. I found some awesome Mint and Dark Chocolate from Trader Joe’s, but I also love Dark Chocolate and Orange and I would recommend it to anyone who isn’t the biggest fan of strong chocolate.

No matter what makes you happy and relaxed, always remember to schedule some RNR especially when you know your week is going to be hectic! Donna and Tom said it best: “Treat Yo’ Self!”
