Now that the temperatures in Ottawa have reached frigid levels, going outside may not be your first choice of activities. However, for those dedicated runners you might not have much of a choice. Here are 20 thoughts that a runner has while they struggle through winter weather!

 1. Why did I set my alarm for so early?

2. Why did I set my alarm for when it’s still DARK OUT??

3. S*@! the floor is cold. Bed was much warmer…

4. The faster I put on my running clothes the faster I’ll warm up.

5. It’s all lies. I am not warm.

6. Ok. Shoes. One foot at a time. You can do this.

7. Can I even run while wearing this many layers?

8. I’ve been staring out the window for five minutes now. I don’t think it’s going to get any warmer…

9. Be brave.

10. Why do I live where the air hurts my face?

11. Yikes, that wind chill is NOT friendly.

12. Just run super fast then you’ll be warm!

13. Just kidding, it’s too slippery. Where did all this snow come from?

14. This is miserable. Why am I doing this?

15. Wait. Am I actually starting to warm up?

16. No, it must be the hypothermia setting in. It’s well below 0°C, I can’t actually be warming up.

17. Hold up, is that sweat? Am I… SWEATING?

18. I AM warming up! It’s a miracle!

19. Maybe this isn’t so bad after all.

20. I can’t wait for my next run!

Happy running and try to stay warm out there!Â
