5 Tips to Kickstart Your Morning to Have a Great Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Ottawa chapter.

We’ve all been there, stuck in bed, procrastinating the day away. By the time you actually get out of bed, you’ve lost half the day and your mood is shot.

It’s time to tackle those mornings head-on and these tips will help you do just that!

1.Make a list of all of your daily goals

This will trigger your brain into a sense of accomplishment and motivation to get things done. Best part is, as every task gets accomplished, you can tick them off. (So satisfying!!!) Don’t forget to make them realistic and attainable.

2.Play some upbeat music and/or your fave tunes as you get ready to tackle your day

Listening to upbeat tempo music should help wake you up and put you in a good mood!

3.Prep your breakfast the night before

Have a healthy, nutritious breakfast either ready to prepare or prepared the night before. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day as it kicks starts the body. Prepping the night before will make sure that you’re not dreading making breakfast!

4.Start your day with a positive affirmation

Starting your day by simply speaking a positive affirmation into the universe can greatly improve your mood and ground your body. These affirmations can include what you are grateful for, what your goal is for the day, something kind about your body or any other ‘feel-good’ saying you want to bring to life. Saying this affirmation 3 times out loud is super great for the mind. (Tip: if you’re out of ideas, there’s plenty of positive affirmations on Pinterest!)

5.Get a good night’s sleep the night before

This goes without a doubt, but mornings are always easier when the body and mind are well-rested. Do the best you can to go to sleep on time to get a full night’s rest the night before.

There will be days where mornings seem impossible to tackle – where nothing will put you in a good mood. The best thing to do is reset, refocus, and continue to tackle your day the best you can. One bad morning should not define your day, but with these tips, hopefully, your bad mornings become far and few in between!
