Fall Fashion Tips: Put Some Halloween Spirit into Your Outfits!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Ottawa chapter.

Halloween is surely an awesome holiday when it comes to fashion! It’s a great excuse to try outfits you would never wear in your daily life. But, what if you were to take some inspiration from the spooky holiday and spice up your fall wardrobe? Here are some tips to put the Halloween spirit into your everyday outfits!

To bring your inner witch out of the broomstick closet, putting on a large black hat, like the one pictured above, would do the trick. Hats were a popular look during the summer, but also seem to coming back this season. They certainly look glamorous and kind of mysterious at the same time.

Of course, black is always a classic.  Wearing a little black dress is also a great option for the fall season.  Add some casual accessories like a nice scarf and a jacket. You will look put together without looking too overdressed. With an outfit like that, just throw on some heeled booties and you’ll look fabulous!

Black and white stripes were really popular this summer as well, and they are still hanging around.  I think that Halloween is a good time to pull them out again: remember those witch socks on The Wizard of Oz? Who could forget that song:“Ding Dong The Witch is Dead…”?  Striped socks would make a great addition to your fall wardrobe and are probably the most iconic witch apparel after the hat. They are certainly easier to style than a hat would be.

You could draw inspiration from the picture above and pair them with a nice black and white blazer. Beetlejuice would be proud!

With all those dark outfits it would be nice to see some colour, don’t you think? In that case, complement your outfit with some brightly coloured accessories. In keeping with the fall season, match with the colours of nature. Earthy tones like orange or red are reminiscent of the leaves and pumpkins.

The fall is a great time to experiment with fashion, so give some of these extravagant looks a try?!
