At Her Campus U Ottawa we are committed to making a difference, not only in our own lives, but also for our communities, and for causes that a lot of us have personal connections to. So with that in mind, we teamed up with Pura Vida Bracelets, an organization that we feel share our values and created exclusive, custom made bracelets that are equal parts fun, fashionable, and philanthropic.

For those who don’t know, Pura Vida Bracelets were created when two recent university graduates took a celebratory trip down to Costa Rica and discovered the pure, simple life that the culture embodies; they admired the locals never taking anything for granted, and wanted to pass that ideology along to their community back home in California. They met a local artisan who made simple, yet wonderful string bracelets and bought hundreds of them to take back home. These first bracelets were so popular that that initial, one-time purchase, turned into a mutually beneficial relationship that has grown into an international organization, and that has not only created over 100 new jobs for local artisans in Costa Rica, but has to-date, been involved with supporting over 200 charities world wide!
Â
Her Campus at the University of Ottawa is proud to work with Pura Vida Bracelets, and in support of the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation, the HCuOttawa bracelet was created! The bracelet made its debut at our annual charity fashion show, Capital Catwalk, and we noticed the great response it received. Since then, we’ve decided to give you another chance to get your hands on one of these amazing bracelets, and to support three amazing organizations in the process!
Â
Â
They will be sold on campus in Desmarais building on Tuesday March 17 at our St. Paddy’s Day bake sale, and depending on availability after the bake sale, you can email us at emhcuottawa@gmail.com to secure one if you haven’t purchased one yet. We’d love to see you on the 17th and I hope to be seeing more of those bracelets around campus soon! Â
Â
Bracelets are $10 each and the colours are exclusive to HCuOttawa (check out our IG page – @hercampus_uottawa to see them!)Â
