From November 8th until the 11th, 31 delegates from the University of Ottawa participated in the Queen’s Model United Nations held in Kingston. The 2012-2013 executive has been working really hard to strenghten the club’s presence within campus as well as their success during different conferences. This year, the delegation came back with five awards including four Honorable Mentions and one Outstanding Delegate Award. This represents a great improvement since last year, only ten delegates attended the same conference and came back with one award. This club is a great way to get involved if you are interested in International Relations and Politics or are just intrigued by the United Nations. According to the University of Ottawa’s Model United Nations Club: “ A Model United Nations (MUN) is an activity that simulates the workings of the United Nations. It is a great hands-on (and educational) experience in order to raise awareness about current global issues, the benefits of cooperation, and, of course, the functions and structure of the United Nations”. Mutliple important conferences are coming up such as the National Model United Nations- Latin America held on the Galapagos Islands in January and the Harvard National Model United Nations held in February in Boston. We are proud of the success of our campus’ delegation and wish them good luck on their future endeavours !
