Right: Philippe Paquette’16, 19 years old
Left: Nicholas Paquette’17, 18 years old
Program: Criminology
Relationship status: Single and ready to mingle
Hollywood crush:
Phil: Jennifer Love Hewitt
Nick: Jessica Alba
What do you look for in your significant other?
Phil: Well I’d be lying if I said that I look for something in particular. I like a girl with whom I feel an instant connection, whether it be physical or not. All in all, I guess I tend to like girls who are fun, have a good sense of humour, are cute in my clothes and can handle their alcohol!
Nick: I like a girl who’s open and speaks her mind. It’s a turn on when a girl knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to let you know. She needs to be easy going and laugh at my jokes; I know 95% of them aren’t funny, but it’s the thought that counts right?! Most importantly, I need a girl that is independent, and if she just happens to be beautiful too…I might have to hold on to her, because she’d be a keeper!
What are your biggest turn offs?
Phil: Hands down a girl who can’t continue a conversation or someone who doesn’t smile… Oh ya, bad kissers.
Nick: That’s an easy one, a girl who can’t make conversation or is too shy to make eye contact.
Could you talk about your worst dates?
Nick: What dates? I’m forever alone! In all seriousness, a buddy of mine once set me up with a friend. Unfortunately, she had thought the date went a lot better than I had, and after a long night of awkward silence, she sealed it with one of the worst kisses I’ve ever had! Needless to say, there was no second date.
Phil: Haha! It is kind of similar to my bro’s answer… I was really excited to see this one girl back home who I met on vacation. So we basically met up and hung out and started kissing at the end of the night before saying goodbye. Safe to say this was the worst kiss of my life. Not sure if it was a lack of practice that this individual had or what!
Have you two ever been interested in the same girl? If so, what happened?
Phil: A girl had a thing for me, but I wasn’t showing any interest. So as a result, she moved on to my brother, which got me mad. Now looking back, I can’t blame her for going for my brother right after me… He is a great guy.
Nick: Ha-ha, yup! A girl who was interested in my brother came on to me to make him jealous. I had no idea that she was playing both of us at the same time and when I found out, both my brother and I stopped talking to her. A girl will never come between us; family comes first!
How are you two similar?
Phil: We are unofficial Dictators of the Paquette household of 5. We both take great pride in being the biggest beauties possible, always looking out for the boys, same sense of humour, definitely appreciate women, music and you are guaranteed to have a good time when hanging out with us. The both of us are extremely driven and know we are going to be successful.
Nick: Well, we are both social butterflies and love to meet people. We have similar goals in life and often have the same taste in women. We both quite enjoy travelling, and we just so happen to be unreal beer pong partners.
How are you different from each other?
Phil: I’d say Nicholas is very independent and not scared to make mistakes, rest assured; he will do it himself and deal with the consequences later. He is definitely more of a hopeless romantic, whereas I like the chase. Don’t expect any cheesy pick-up lines from me, haha! I understand that making mistakes is inevitable in life, however I try to assess and calculate every one of my moves wisely, taking into account the results. We both have good qualities and are different in our own ways, making us great friends and partners in our business.
Nick: We each have our own passions, and ambitions. I am more free spirited and artistic; he is a logical thinker with organized thoughts. I live in the moment and face consequences later, whereas Philippe is somewhat calculated. He is a great athlete. I am not as interested in team sports, but excel in mechanics and engineering devices. At the end of the day, our differences complement each other and make us great friends and business partners.
What are your hobbies?
Phil: I am an athlete. You give me any sport and I will pick it up quickly. Played Jr. A hockey for the Cumberland Grads but had to leave the sport this year due to concussions. Toughest decision I have ever had to make. I also love extreme sports and getting my adrenaline going!
Nick: I absolutely love cars, fixing and driving them. My natural habitat is in the garage or behind the wheel. I enjoy drifting and racing my car, riding motocross, biking, long boarding and pretty much anything providing me with an adrenaline rush! I’m an entrepreneur, so I enjoy thinking and creating new businesses and assessing possibilities to make money without working a day job! As boring as it seems for most people, it keeps me busy!
How are you involved on campus?
Phil: Haha! Well, I am now retired so I will be playing intramural hockey, and will also be part of a fantasy football league… Not sure if the football counts…
Nick: I will be playing intramural hockey this year and I’m also starting a car enthusiast club!
What are your goals this year?
Phil: My two biggest priorities are to maintain good grades and successfully launch and run our new website and business. Also, never losing at Beer Pong or Freeze is of great importance to me.
Nick: I need to maintain good grades at school while enjoying the university lifestyle!
Who is your role model?
Phil: My role model would have to be my Dad, his outlook on life is something to learn from. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help of my dad. When I was in hockey, I looked up to him for advice, and now I will constantly seek his advice when it comes to business decisions.
Nick: My role model would be my uncle Guy, for staying youthful throughout his whole life. Business wise, my father is my biggest role model. He has helped me tremendously and provided me with so much valuable information that has helped me succeed with my business ventures over the years.
Where do you see yourself in 15 years?
Phil: Living in a big home somewhere warm on a beach, with a great family, running a successful company, having the means to do whatever I want, whenever I want.
Nick: Raising a family in California or Hawaii with a lovely wife and kids. Owning and operating my own company with enough money to provide for my family and support my automotive hobbies!
