Max Kurucar, ’16
You probably have never been more tempted to take a copy of The Daily Pennsylvanian on Locust Walk until this week’s Campus Cutie came along. He hails from the Midwest, bringing his quick wits, athleticism, charm, and romance to Philadelphia. Meet Max Kurucar!

Birthday: turned 21 on October 21st
Major: Marketing
Languages: English and French
Hometown: Oak Lawn, Illinois

What kind of activities are you involved in at Penn?
The Marketing Department at the DP. You might also recognize me from giving out the paper on the compass Monday through Thursday. I’m a men’s stylist for The Walk (Ed. note: he’s shirtless in the next issue). I also used to play football freshman and sophomore year.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
Either Paris or Provence—the lavender fields would be a beautiful sight to wake up to.
What’s your favorite Penn Tradition?
Throwing the toast at Penn Football games. My first game that I attended when I wasn’t playing I almost got kicked out for throwing it during the 3rd quarter.
What is your favorite place to eat on campus?
I usually eat at Allegro’s or Copa because I live nearby…or I cook. I make a mean jalapeno, spinach omelette, and if you want more details, I’ll also have a banana and some strawberry banana yoghurt. I drink nothing but water.
What about off campus?
Del Frisco’s
Hobbies: Video games, The History Channel. I’m big on music, talking with accents, introspection.
What’s your average weekend like? The weekends start Thursday, can’t miss 50 cent drinks at Blarney. Friday I’ll be drinking wine and reminiscing with friends. On Saturdays, I tell myself I’ll get work done but that never happens. So I sit around and watch movies, take walks, maybe go downtown.
If you could go back, what would you tell your freshman self? Get out there and network more.
Who’s your spirit animal? Panda
Favorite midnight snack: mega-stuffed oreos
Cats or Dogs? I am a dog person, but if I meet the right cat I’ll make an exception.
Favorite cuisine: American—a greasy burger, some nice oversalted fries, bone-in filet from Joe’s Crab Shack
Least favorite: Thai food
Ideal first date: BYO paint and dinner, a little bit of wine a little bit of paint
Favorite music: alternative pop, indie, and my boy Sinatra and Michael Bublé
Favorite movie: 40-year-old Virgin. But favorite adventure movie: National Treasure movies (Ed. Note: Really?), Drama: Begin Again
Favorite TV show: Family Guy, Lost, Supernatural, Friday Night Lights, Prison Break
Celebrity Crush: Kate Beckinsale—gorgeous, stays out of the tabloids, respectable.
Man Crush: Ryan Reynolds
What do you look for in a girl?
1) Sense of humor 2) soft-spoken and articulate 3) dresses well but comfortably 4) knows pop culture 5) isn’t afraid to be silly because I am a kid at heart and I can be super goofy.
Dream job: The tour boat guide on the Seine in Paris
Favorite pick-up line: “Would you like a copy of The DP?”
Describe yourself in three words. Silly, athletic, romantic
Pet Peeves: when people walk on the left side of the sidewalk…that, and inconsiderate people.
Any special talents? Maintaining my athleticism while eating megastuffed oreos. People say I’m a pretty decent singer.
Any fun facts? I got a concussion in eighth grade and still haven’t regained some memory, but it’s okay. I made it here. I also despise ketchup.
What’s on your Penn bucket list? I want to find all of the ivy day stones.
