A Beautiful, Quiet Library: Emmanuel College

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Toronto chapter.

Nobody enjoys studying. It is tedious and honestly, overwhelming but it has to be done if you want that piece of paper we call a degree. Like most things, there are ways to make the experience of studying a lot more exciting: grab a friend, make a playlist, or even better, find an aesthetically pleasing library. Luckily, the University of Toronto has blessed all of its students with a diverse range of libraries. With 44 libraries, you are bound to find at least one that makes studying less torturous.

One of my personal favourite libraries on campus is Emmanuel College’s. Not only is it incredibly quiet (I’m talking absolute silence) but it is a beautiful sight to behold especially when you need motivation to finish your readings. I have no shame in admitting this but half the reason I study at this particular library is because it is Instagram worthy.

If you enjoy a place that is completely silent and aesthetically pleasing, Emmanuel College’s library is the perfect place for you. I mean, if you don’t Instagram it, did it even happen?

Carol Eugene Park is a 3rd year student at Victoria College, University of Toronto. She is double majoring in English and Renaissance Studies. Despite her many hobbies and interests, she prefers to spend her days reading romance novels with a glass of red wine in hand. She aspires to be a professional writer and professor, creating a work of literature that will impact the academic world. When she is not jotting down ideas in her notebook, thinking about potential articles she can write, she can be found wandering the aisles of an Indigo or Chapters (I like smelling new books, okay?)
