Another profile, another Vickie to introduce! As biased as it may be, Victoria College has the best, well-rounded people you will ever have the privilege of meeting. Victorians are encouraging, positive, and all in all, genuine individuals. In my second year, I had the opportunity of meeting Sharon Tan. Describing her in one word or one phrase is a disservice to her amazing personality, intelligent mind, and hilarious humour.Â
What would you advise to students who want to get involved with student life, but still maintain a good academic standing?
Research (Big Sean). On a serious note, make sure you talk to the people who are running the extra curricular activities, and the people who have been on the club/levy to get an idea about the time commitment. Find what fits YOUR schedule. Being involved shouldn’t take a toll on your body! Remember that! Most presidents are understanding as they’ve been/are going through the same thing. If you have a midterm the next morning, it is highly unlikely that you will have to stay till 2 am cleaning up an event.
What does being a Victorian mean to you?
It can be scary walking around campus as an individual. However, when we respond with “I go to Vic,” it makes us seem like we are a part of something greater. Being a Victorian means being in a supportive community while learning about the world ourselves. Ye Vickies!!
If you could change anything in your life, what would it be?
My eating and spending habits. Someone needs to explain to me how I got to VIB Rouge because I don’t know how it happened.
How does the word “moist” make you feel?
I love Betty Crocker SuperMoist cakes. Super moist.
