During Her Campus at UVic’s Philanthropy Week, you’ll hopefully be inspired to give to those in need. However, especially in the holiday season, you also need to give to those in your life who may not need so much. How can you give to your loved ones while simultaneously giving to good causes? Luckily for you, I’ve compiled a list of gifts that keep on giving, for all your gift-giving needs!
SoapBox Soaps
Partnered with non-profits around the world, SoapBox Soaps donates one bar of soap to communities in need with every bar bought. According to their website, the lives of over 3000 children could be saved every day with clean water and soap. Contaminated drinking water, insufficient access to clean water for hygiene, and lack of hygienic products leads to 88% of diarrheal diseases. Washing hands after going to the bathroom and before eating can reduce these deaths by 35%. Giving soap to communities in need gives them the opportunity to protect themselves from easily preventable diseases. Buy body wash, shampoo, hand soap or bar soap for a loved one in scents such as pomegranate and sea mineral, and feel good about doing it! See their website for more details on their awesome projects around the world.

Mealshare
Why feed one person when you can feed two? Mealshare is a non-profit organization that believes in the “buy one, give one” business model. Their premise is simple: Mealshare partners with restaurants across North America, which put the Mealshare logo beside particular items on their menus. Whenever a Mealshare meal is ordered, the restaurant donates $1 towards providing a meal for someone in need. Victoria Mealshare partners include Tacofino, Floyd’s Diner, Original Joe’s, Bubby’s Kitchen and many more. Take pride in your next lunch out with a friend by buying them a Mealshare menu item. Find Mealshare restaurants in Victoria here, and read more about it here.
