The Most Aesthetic Coffee Shops in Victoria

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Vic chapter.

At this point in the semester, the only reason I can make it to my 8:30 classes is because of caffeine. Luckily, one of the best things about living in Victoria is the variety of cute, trendy coffee shops we have available to us. Even though I’ve been spending most of my time at Tim Horton’s while Roll Up the Rim is going on, sometimes I want something a little more photo-worthy. Here is a list of the coffee places to match your ideal Instagram aesthetic.

Hey Happy – 560 Johnson St

You might have seen photos of Hey Happy on your hipster friend’s Instagram feed, since it’s a very popular shop in downtown Victoria. The food and drinks are served on a cute wooden tray, which look great in snaps of your latte art!

Union Pacific – 537 Herald St

Union Pacific is right across from Jam, so it’s perfect if you need a cup of coffee while you’re waiting in line for brunch! This rustic-feeling cafe is also perfect for a relaxing (or not so relaxing) study sesh – especially on Tuesday’s, with hand-made lattes sitting at only $2!

Habit – 808 Yates St and 552 Pandora Ave

The floor to ceiling windows of the Atrium make Habit a great place to come if you like to do some people watching while you drink your coffee. They also have a strong focus on sustainability, since they work closely with Synergy Green Business to maintain a carbon neutral existence. This is especially important because climate change is threatening our coffee beans! You can check out our article about that here.

La Roux Patisserie – 519 Fisgard St

I’ve never been to Paris, but I imagine the coffee shops there to feel just like La Roux. It’s like the Kate Spade of coffee shops – very classy and stylish. If you’re looking for a great Instagram photo, I highly suggest the emoji macaron. This is the perfect place to #treatyourself.

Macchiato – 780 Johnson St and 1002 Broad St

Sitting right on the corner of Blanchard and Johnson, Macchiato is the perfect place to go for a relaxing coffee date. This cafe provides a more upscale and elegant atmosphere, with comfortable half-booths and delicious snacks. You’ll be sure to see men and women in their business casual attire. Seating is rather limited, though, so get there on time!

Whether you like to go to coffee shops to study or just to relax, I hope you find one on this list that you love. Did I miss your favourite? Let us know!
