Every little kid’s dream is to have a dog. While I was lucky throughout my childhood (having a Cocker Spaniel when I was a wee baby, Yellow Lab in my tiny tot years, and finally a Shih-Tzu in high school), I was missing something in college. I could go home and play with Miles, my parents’ 5 year old Shih-Tzu, but I couldn’t take him back to Laramie.

I needed my own puppy.

Meet Timber.

The day I took Timber to her first mountain hike.

She is my 5 month Corgi-Blue Heeler- something else. She has daddy issues.

And she is the love of my life.

Sometimes, though, she can be a real butt to deal with.

1. For instance, she chews through all of her chew toys.

She tears out the eyes of her enemies and pulls out all of the fluff. (Literally…. She only chews the faces off her toys).

2. Her ears don’t know which way to go.

One ear points True North, the other points to Magnetic North. That may be false, but it is the only cool explanation I can think of.

3. Her nails are sharp as heck.

Exhibit A: The cut on my inner arm (taken 2 weeks ago… still healing). But she doesn’t know any better. So I guess it’s okay.

*We’re in the process of scheduling a grooming appointment. I realize the harm that dogs face with long nails.

4. And she ripped up her mattress pad to her crate within the first week of having it.

The face of the culprit.

5. And Timber is funny when she is mid-sneeze.

Derp.

But this gal couldn’t ask for a better friend. Timber was born on May 1st, so she’s my little May-Day-Baby. It was a long 3 ½ months later when I could take the bundle of joy home. My life hasn’t been the same since.

The day I took Timber to get spayed.

She hogs the bed, poops on my floor, and chews up every toy I give her, but I wouldn’t trade anything for her. Timber is my world.

The day I took Timber to her first soccer game.

Timber is from a foster family, sponsored by the Wheatland Corgi and Dachshund Rescue. To find pets or donate to this amazing organization, please visit their Facebook page!

“Sometimes you want to have a very productive Saturday to feel that you are in control of your life, which of course you are not.” -Tina Fey, Bossypants Jamie Bridenstine... How do I even begin to explain Jamie Bridenstine. Jamie Bridenstine is flawless. She has two Fendi purses and a silver Lexus. I hear her hair's insured for $10,000. I hear she does car commercials... in Japan. Her favorite movie is Varsity Blues. One time, she met John Stamos on a plane. And he told her she was pretty. One time, she punched me in the face. It was awesome. Jamie Bridenstine is a 4th year undergrad at the University of Wyoming, earning her B.A. in Communication and a minor in Military Science. Her favorite move is Mean Girls... and any movie with Tina Fey in it. She enjoys deep conversations about politics, procrastinating on group projects, and watching The Office over and over again. Jamie has the cutest dog in the world, Timber, and is ready to take on the world after college. She will be heading up to Washington after graduation to pursue her career in the military... and hopefully her graduate degree in Public Relations.
Kaitlyn is a recent grad the University of Wyoming, where she got her degree in Marketing. She has been the Campus Correspondent for a Pink level chapter, a Chapter Advisor to some amazing chapters, and now has the pleasure of being a Region Leader. Born and raised on the Western Slope of Colorado, her love for nature and the outdoors comes naturally. Kaitlyn lives for football season, but finds way to stay preoccupied during the off-season. She enjoys long walks in the mountains, beer as cold as her heart, and bacon on her burgers.
